Gareth Rees Plant began in February of 1989, when our founder Gareth Rees was just twenty-two. He set out in the forests of South Wales with a single Ford H45 digger constructing footpaths, designing mountain bike tracks and carrying out land remediation works.

Since 1989, GR Plant has evolved into a multi-faceted company specialising in contracting, plant hire, environmental engineering and trail design and construction. We have grown from a single machine and operator, to a well-staffed company of 15 with around 50 machines. With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, at GR Plant we pride ourselves on our personal service, professional quality, and commitment to being green.

Our Founder

Our founder, Gareth Rees, knows the industry inside out. He started out as a machine operator and made the big decision to start GR Plant at the age of 22.

Gareth continues to be the central-most figure in the company, working with all clients personally to ensure that projects are completed to the highest specification.

He has taken the company all over the world to Japan, Korea, Spain, France, Germany, Turkey, Portugal, Ireland and Sweden, and is the driving force behind the company.

Our Clients

At GRP, we have worked with clients in both the public and private sectors. We’ve worked for BAM Nuttall and the London Olympics to create the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park trails in London’s Lee Valley Velopark.

Other clients include Harsco and Celsa in Cardiff Steelworks, where we continue to carry out screening and crushing works. For the past six years we have worked at Hinkley Point C for Kier/BAM, where we process fill materials.

At GRP, we are committed to investing in environmentally-friendly machinery and adopting sustainable techniques to ensure minimal environmental impact. We recycle 100% of our waste and many of our machines are electro-diesel. Our company focuses on the use of modern machinery with low fuel consumption to ensure low emissions and an improved carbon footprint. At the moment, we are looking to invest in electric machinery to reduce our emissions further and keep our methods Green.
